What Belsize homes are like
Belsize was laid out in the 1850s and 1860s on the old Belsize Manor estate, and the housing has barely changed shape since. The wide avenues climbing off Belsize Park Gardens and Belsize Square are lined with tall stucco-fronted Italianate villas, white as stone at the front, most of them long ago divided into generous upper-floor flats. Between them sit the red-brick Edwardian mansion blocks, the kind with a communal hall and a lift, and along Eton Avenue you get William Willett’s redbrick houses with their terracotta gables. Almost the whole district falls inside the Belsize Park Conservation Area, so the period detail, the cornices, the wide landings and the original staircases, is still very much in place.

How do you handle parking and access on the avenues?
We plan for it when you book. Belsize falls in Camden’s CA-B controlled parking zone, so the avenues are permit-controlled and often full, and a lot of the homes are first or second-floor flats. Tell us your road and floor on the call, and we bring a long hose reach where the van cannot sit close and carry the kit up the stairs.
Can you collect a rug from a flat rather than clean it here?
Yes. Many of the rugs we clean for Belsize are antique wool and kilim pieces from the mansion-flat conversions, and those are far better done in our workshop. We wrap and collect from the flat, wash and dry them flat off the floor, and bring them back, usually within a couple of days. Collection and return are free.
How long will my carpet take to dry?
