The Grand Union Canal meets the Thames at Brentford, a short walk from the 18th-century houses around The Butts, where markets were held by 1679 and Middlesex voted from 1701. London Carpet Cleaning covers Brentford, TW8, from those period houses to the new flats of the Great West Quarter and The Brentford Project. Each bedroom starts at £36, and a cleaned carpet needs up to 6 to 7 hours to dry.

An old county town with new flats on every side
Brentford has two housing stories running side by side. The old town is period. The Butts was built up from the late 17th century, held markets by 1679 and parliamentary elections from 1701, and its square and wide streets of 18th-century houses, many of them listed Grade II, are a conservation area today; Clifden House on the corner of Half Acre is a mid-18th-century brick mansion of seven bays. North of the High Street the Victorian terraces followed, Brook Road partly built by 1872 and the land between Ealing Road and Pottery Road laid out by 1883, with long runs of bay-fronted terraces along roads like Netley Road. Those houses carry the things wool and old fibres pick up over decades, and many are now let, so we see a lot of moves through them.
The second story is industrial, then new. The gasworks once stretched about 400 metres along the High Street, and the waterworks, the soap factory, the dock and the gasworks all closed in the 1950s and 1960s. Much of that land has since been built over with flats. The Great West Quarter off the A4 Golden Mile and The Brentford Project, Ballymore’s scheme down by the river, with canal-side flats, shops and an Everyman cinema, have added hundreds of studio, one and two-bed apartments, most of them carpeted only in the bedrooms with pale, short-pile fibre. Brentford station sits on the Hounslow Loop Line in Zone 4, with Boston Manor on the Piccadilly line a short walk north.
Traffic lanes, musty flats and end-of-tenancy work
The job splits by where you live. In the period terraces it is lounge and stairs traffic lanes, the odd old red wine mark left by a previous tenant, and full end-of-tenancy cleans on the rented ones. In the canal-side and riverside flats it is tired upholstery and a slightly musty smell, which a hot-water extraction clean and proper airflow sort out fast. New-build flats tend to bring mattress and bedroom-carpet work, often after a place changes hands.
Old staining is where we are careful with promises. A coffee ring that has dried into the back of a wool carpet, or an old spill the dye has set into, will usually lift a long way and fade right back, but I will not always promise it clears completely. We tell you what a fibre will and will not give up before we start.
Parking by the station and on the High Street
The roads by Brentford station are in Hounslow’s Brentford Station zone (BSTN): Glenhurst Road, Orchard Road, Sidney Gardens, The Dell, York Road and Windmill Road between Boston Road and the Great West Road. It runs Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm. York Road residents petitioned back in 2018 about fans going to Brentford home games parking in the evenings and at weekends, and in the winter of 2024 to 2025 the council consulted again on longer hours, up to Monday to Saturday, 9am to 8pm, including bringing in nearby streets such as Layton Road and Brockshot Close. Check the plate on your road, since the hours may have changed.
On the High Street itself the buses and the loading bays come first, so we stop briefly, unload, and move to a side street or a visitor bay. For the new blocks, tell us the loading area, the concierge desk if there is one, and which lift to use, and we arrange it on the day. In the period terraces, clear the hall and stairs before we arrive.
Brentford’s housing, as the census counts it
| Homes that are | Share |
|---|---|
| Purpose-built flats | 75.5% |
| Built in 2000 or later | 42.1% |
| Built 1973 to 1999 | 25.2% |
| Homes with two bedrooms | 41.9% |
| Rented from the council | 24.0% |
| Shared ownership | 3.3% |
The census area around the High Street is overwhelmingly flats: 75.5% of homes are in purpose-built blocks, and 42.1% have gone up since 2000, with another quarter (25.2%) from 1973 to 1999. The Victorian terraces are real but outnumbered. For a cleaner that means lifts, fob doors, carpet in the bedrooms only, and short jobs that turn around quickly. Two-bedroom homes are the largest group at 41.9%, and a two-bed flat, both bedrooms and the living room, comes to £115.
Who lives in those flats matters too. Almost a quarter of homes (24.0%) are rented straight from the council, and 3.3% are shared ownership. Each kind of tenure ends a tenancy or a sale in the same place: a check of the carpets, and a dated receipt that proves they were cleaned.
Figures: ONS Census 2021 (Hounslow 031) and VOA council tax stock, March 2024.

Canal-side sofas, wool terraces and rugs
Carpets get the hot-water extraction we use for our steam carpet cleaning, which rinses the dirt out and leaves the pile dry within 6 to 7 hours. Sofas and corner suites in the flats by the canal go through the same gentle process as our upholstery cleaning, fibre-tested first so colours hold. Larger rugs are cleaned in the room where they lie, once we have moved the light furniture, through our rug cleaning service. We cover the rest of Hounslow too, and you can read about our work in neighbouring Boston Manor and around Kew Bridge.
Brentford, asked and answered
Which parts of Brentford do you cover, from The Butts to the riverside?
All of TW8: the old town and High Street, the new flats along the Great West Road and The Brentford Project by the river, plus Half Acre, The Butts, Boston Manor Road and the streets down towards the lock. We also reach the nearby Syon Lane, Syon Park and Kew Bridge ends with no extra travel charge.
Where will the van park on the High Street and around the station?
The Brentford Station zone runs on weekdays, 9.30am to 5.30pm, so near the station I pull up close, run the hose in and keep it brief, or use a visitor permit. For the new blocks off the Great West Road, let me know the visitor bay or loading area when you book and I sort access on the day.
Can you handle end-of-tenancy carpet cleaning before a deposit check?
Yes, that is a big part of the work in Brentford with so many flats let out. We clean carpets thoroughly for the check-out, dry them down and leave a receipt for the agent or landlord. Book a few days ahead where you can, since end-of-month moving slots fill up fast around here.
How long will carpet in a Brentford terrace or canal-side flat take to dry?
Plan on 6 to 7 hours for most carpets, and keep to socks, not shoes, until they are dry. A heavily soiled wool carpet in an older terrace, or a damp ground-floor flat near the canal, can take longer to dry right through, so we open windows and get air moving before we go.
Do home matches at the stadium affect a booking near the station?
They can. Residents near the station have petitioned the council about fans parking there in the evenings and at weekends, which is when the zone does not apply. If you book a Saturday or an evening slot, we check the fixture list first and pick a time well clear of kick-off.
I own a shared-ownership flat. Do you need the housing association’s permission?
No. A carpet clean is ordinary upkeep, and nothing about shared ownership changes how we do it. If you are selling your share, a clean a few days before the valuation or the agent’s photographs makes the flat look its best, and we can book around those visits.
Every Brentford job comes with a re-clean guarantee: if a treated area is not right, we come back and put it straight. We are fully insured and DBS-checked, and we have cleaned carpets, sofas and rugs across Brentford and the rest of Hounslow since 2009.
