Beside St Mary the Virgin on Bedfont Green, a Norman church of around 1150, two yews are clipped into peacocks, with the dates 1704 and 1990 grown into the topiary. Round the green, East Bedfont is closes, flats and family houses, with Bedfont Lakes Country Park to the west. London Carpet Cleaning cleans across East Bedfont, TW14, from £36 a room, dry within 6 to 7 hours.

The green and the lakes
East Bedfont is the original village of modern Bedfont; West Bedfont, around Long Lane, is mostly across the boundary in Spelthorne. St Mary the Virgin is the oldest surviving church in the borough. It keeps its Norman chancel, and medieval wall paintings were found inside it in 1865. The peacock yews are said to date from 1704; they were recreated in 1990 after they declined, and the two dates were trained into the trees. The green and the streets round it form a large conservation area.
West of the village, Bedfont Lakes Country Park covers 72.5 hectares and is a Local Nature Reserve. It was Fawn’s Manor Farm, growing produce for London until the 1920s; gravel was dug there from the 1860s, and from the 1950s until 1973 it was a landfill site. The Rutland Group bought it in 1988 and worked with the council to make the country park, which gained its nature-reserve status in 2000. Over 150 bird species have been recorded there. The Longford River, dug for Charles I in 1638 and 1639 to feed the water gardens at Hampton Court, runs through the parish.
Most housing came later. The Great South West Road was cut through in 1925, Heathrow opened in 1946, and the fields around the green filled with homes for the people who worked there. Around Bedfont Green Close, Spinney Drive, Dudley Road and Peacock Avenue the homes are mostly post-war or later, flats as well as houses, with newer closes off Hatton Road.
Flats, first homes and shared ownership
| Homes that are | Share |
|---|---|
| Flats in purpose-built blocks | 35.4% |
| Two-bedroom homes | 31.8% |
| Built 1973 to 1999 | 26.4% |
| One-bedroom homes | 21.9% |
| Rented privately | 20.9% |
| Bought through shared ownership | 7.2% |
Old village or not, a third of the homes here (35.4%) are flats in purpose-built blocks, and more than half are small: 21.9% have one bedroom and 31.8% two. Building carried on long after the war, with 26.4% of homes dating from 1973 to 1999. A typical East Bedfont booking is a two-bed flat with its living room, and that comes to £115.
One figure is unusual. Shared ownership accounts for 7.2% of homes, which points to housing-association schemes of recent years, and it means many first-time buyers paying rent on part of their flat. Add 20.9% private renting and the turnover is steady, people moving in and out with a clean at each end. Only 1.8% of homes lack central heating, so even a ground-floor flat dries the same day with the heating on low.

Toddler spills and worn stairs
The job pattern here is shaped by two things: families and the airport on the doorstep. We get a lot of toddler accidents, felt-tip and biro on bedroom carpets, dog paw prints tracked up the stairs, and the occasional party spill on a front-room carpet. Plenty of it lifts cleanly; hot-water extraction pulls out wine, mud and most pen if we get to it before someone has scrubbed it in.
The limit is the older stairs. Where a stair carpet has decades of grinding-in along the nosings and the pile has gone flat and shiny, we get it clean and a good deal brighter, but the wear itself is permanent, and a clean cannot put back pile that has worn down to the backing. We say that on the doorstep.
Parking and timing round the green
East Bedfont is mostly free of controlled parking; Hounslow’s zones are concentrated in Brentford, Chiswick, Hounslow and Isleworth. The van usually goes on the street outside or on your drive, and in the blocks of flats we use a visitor bay if there is one. The road to watch is the A30, which can crawl at peak times; we allow for it and ring if we are delayed.
For a flat, give us the block and the floor when you book. Feltham station and Hatton Cross on the Piccadilly line are both about a mile and a half away. Move bags and shoes out of the hall before we arrive, and if you have a dog that comes back muddy from the lakes, keep it out of the cleaned rooms until they are dry.
Carpet, upholstery and rug cleaning near Bedfont Lakes
Our main job is hot-water carpet cleaning, the deep extraction that handles the muddy stair runs and toddler spills people book us for here. We also clean sofas and armchairs in the home with upholstery cleaning, good for greasy headrests and biro on cushions, and hallway runners and wool rugs get proper rug cleaning there too, with a photo first for anything delicate. We cover the rest of Hounslow on the same terms, along with neighbouring Feltham and Hatton.
East Bedfont questions, answered by us
Do you cover East Bedfont from the village green to Hatton Road?
All of TW14 in East Bedfont, from the green and Staines Road across Hatton Road, Spinney Drive, Dudley Road and Peacock Avenue, and the closes towards Bedfont Lakes and Clockhouse Lane. We also reach over into Feltham and up to Hatton Cross, so if your road sits on the border between them, you are still inside our area at the same fixed prices.
Where will the van park on the day?
East Bedfont is mostly free of controlled parking, so the van usually goes on the street outside or on your drive. The one to flag is the A30 itself: traffic on the Great South West Road can be slow at peak times, so if we are running behind we will phone ahead. Closes off Hatton Road are quieter for access.
Do you do end-of-tenancy carpet cleaning for letting agents?
Yes, and it is a common booking near Hatton Cross and the airport, where a lot of the flats are rented. We clean to the standard agents expect and give you a dated receipt for the carpets, which is usually what the inventory clerk or landlord wants to see before the deposit is returned. Book the clean for after the furniture is out.
How long do carpets take to dry in an East Bedfont semi?
Most carpets are dry within 6 to 7 hours because we extract hard and leave very little moisture behind. Stairs and landings dry quickest. A dense wool rug or a heavily soiled lounge carpet can take a few hours longer, so on a damp day crack a window or leave the heating ticking over.
We work shifts at Heathrow. Can you come when one of us is at home?
Yes. Tell us the shift pattern when you book and we will give you a time that fits, with a rough arrival window, and phone ahead on the day. If neither of you can be in, a neighbour can let us in; send us a photo of any mark you want looked at.
We are buying our flat through shared ownership. Can you clean before we move in?
Yes, and an empty flat is the easiest clean of all. Book it for the day you get the keys, before the furniture arrives, and every room is done edge to edge in one visit. Two bedrooms and the living room come to £115. The carpet takes up to 6 to 7 hours to dry, so a morning clean is dry by the evening and the removal van can unload the next day.
Every clean comes with our re-clean guarantee: if a treated area does not come up as it should, we come back and put it right. We are fully insured, DBS-checked, and have cleaned carpets, sofas and rugs across East Bedfont and the wider Hounslow borough since 2009.
