Behind the terminus, Drummond Street keeps its row of curry houses, while the HS2 site and the council blocks along Hampstead Road fill the streets to the west. London Carpet Cleaning has worked Euston, NW1, and the estates either side of the station since 2009. A bedroom carpet costs from £36 to clean, and it is dry within 6 to 7 hours.

Euston on both sides of the tracks
Almost everyone around Euston lives in a flat, and the station splits them in two. West of it, between Hampstead Road and Albany Street, lies the Regent’s Park Estate: nearly 2,000 homes in 49 buildings, built in the 1950s by St Pancras borough on Crown land cleared by the Blitz. Its north-west corner has gone to HS2. The Eskdale, Ainsdale and Silverdale blocks beside the railway were pulled down for the new station, taking 182 homes, and 175 council homes were built to replace them. Drummond Street runs along the back of the station with its curry houses.
East of the station, past Eversholt Street, the flats are older. The Ossulston Estate, built by the London County Council between 1927 and 1937 along Chalton Street and Ossulston Street, has courtyards behind tall archways and the whole of it is Grade II listed; Levita House and Walker House still run as council flats, and a clean there is carried up a stair to the door. Around them sit a few Georgian and Victorian terraces on Phoenix Road and Werrington Street, carved into one- and two-bed conversions. Euston puts the Northern line, on both branches, and the Victoria line under one roof in zone 1, and Euston Square, with its Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan platforms, is a couple of minutes west along Euston Road.
Euston’s homes in figures
| Homes that are | Share |
|---|---|
| Flats in purpose-built blocks | 91.2% |
| Owned by the people living there | 11.8% |
| Rented privately | 20.2% |
| One-bedroom homes | 33.6% |
| Built 1973 to 1999 | 13.8% |
| Built since 2000 | 15.0% |
The census area called Euston covers the west side of the station, the Regent’s Park Estate and the blocks around Drummond Street; the Ossulston side across Eversholt Street is counted with Somers Town. Here 91.2% of homes are flats in purpose-built blocks, and fewer than one household in eight owns its home (11.8%). One in five (20.2%) rents privately, and those lets are where most of our move-out cleans come from.
The VOA count shows the area being rebuilt in stages. After the big post-war estate came the later infill, 13.8% of homes from 1973 to 1999, and 15.0% have gone up since 2000, the replacement homes for HS2 among them. A third of homes have a single bedroom (33.6%), so many jobs are a bedroom, a lounge and a hall. In a two-bed council flat off Hampstead Road, the two bedrooms and the lounge come to £115.
Figures: ONS Census 2021 (Camden 023) and VOA council tax stock, March 2024.
Is end-of-tenancy work the main job here?
It is the one that comes up most. Euston is full of shared flats and short professional lets, and we are often booked to hand back a lounge and two or three bedrooms in a single morning, with a dated receipt for the inventory. The other steady job is the hall and stair carpet in flats off Hampstead Road, which takes grime straight off a busy main road and greys out faster than the rooms behind it. Spilled coffee on a beige bedroom carpet, a curry mark on a corner sofa, candle wax in a rug: those are the Euston phone calls.
We are careful about what we promise. A deep coffee or pet stain we can usually shift or fade a long way, but a mark a previous tenant ground into a pale carpet over months may only lighten, and we say so before we start.
HS2, CA-G and getting to the door
Both sides of the station sit in Camden’s CA-G parking zone. West of Eversholt Street, on the Euston side, bays are controlled from 8:30am to 6:30pm on weekdays and from 8:30am to 1:30pm on Saturdays, a Saturday rule that began as a trial in July 2022. The HS2 works have suspended bays in the Regent’s Park ward, and in 2026 the utility diversions closed lanes on Hampstead Road; the southbound cycle lane and footpath south of Cardington Street were shut from May into October, and Robert Street served as the way into the estate while a lane of Varndell Street was closed.
Many of these homes are estate flats with no kerb outside, so the van often parks a street away and we run a long hose to the door, or carry the machine up in the lift. Tell us the block, the floor and the nearest entrance when you book, and we check the HS2 notices for your street the day before. Clear the hall of shoes and bags, because in most of these flats the hall is the route to every room.

Hot-water cleaning, sofas and rugs in NW1
We clean fitted carpets and stairs by hot-water extraction, which pulls the main-road grit back out of the base of the pile, and we match the water to the fibre, so a wool carpet gets a low-moisture clean and a tough synthetic takes a deeper hot rinse. We also clean sofas and corner suites, clean Persian and wool rugs in the home with proper rug cleaning (a photo first for an old Persian), and freshen mattresses. For the rest of the borough, see our Camden carpet cleaning page; from Euston we also reach up the Northern line to Golders Green.
Euston questions from the phone
Do you cover all of Somers Town, from Eversholt Street to Chalton Street?
Yes, and the Euston side as well: from the Regent’s Park Estate and Drummond Street across Eversholt Street to Somers Town, the Chalton Street market and the St Pancras side. We know the Ossulston courtyards, the estate blocks and the conversion flats, and there is no call-out fee wherever your flat sits.
Where do you park on an estate with no driveway?
We plan it when you book. The whole area is in Camden’s CA-G zone and the estate blocks have no kerbside spot, so we bring a long hose and carry the kit in on foot from the nearest legal bay. Tell us your block and floor on the call and we sort the route before the day.
Can you do an end-of-tenancy carpet clean at short notice?
Usually, yes, and it is a big part of what we do in Euston. We clean the lounge, bedrooms and stairs in one visit, treat any pet or traffic marks, and give you a dated receipt the agent or landlord can put against the inventory. Book the night before and we can often come first thing the next morning.
How long will my carpet take to dry in a flat?
Most carpets are dry within 6 to 7 hours, because the machine pulls the water back out of the pile. In a closed-up flat with little airflow we open a window or ask you to put the heating on low, and the room is back in use the same day. A sofa is dry to sit on by the evening.
Will the HS2 works stop you reaching my flat?
Usually not. The closures move from month to month, and in 2026 they have mostly been lanes and footpaths on Hampstead Road, with Robert Street used to reach the Regent’s Park Estate when part of Varndell Street was shut. We check HS2’s published notices before the visit and plan the route and the parking around them, so you only need to tell us your block.
Do you clean the stairs inside a maisonette?
Yes. Internal stairs in a maisonette are priced as one flight, from £41, whether they are a straight run or turn at a half-landing. We clean each tread and riser by hand tool, work from the top down so nobody steps on a damp tread, and the stairs dry in the same 6 to 7 hours as the carpet in the rooms, so wear socks, not shoes, on them until then.
Every clean in Euston is backed by our re-clean guarantee: if a spot comes back, so do we, at no charge. We are fully insured, our cleaners are DBS-checked, and we have cleaned carpets across NW1 and the rest of Camden since 2009.
