What Glasshouse Yard homes are like
Glasshouse Yard is a short lane off Aldersgate Street, tucked behind Goswell Road and next to the old Charterhouse, right on the line where the City of London meets Clerkenwell. It takes its name from a glassworks the second Duke of Buckingham set up here in 1660, one of the first in England to make Venetian rock-crystal glass. Over on Charterhouse Square you get the Art Deco flats of Florin Court, the “Poirot” building of 1936, alongside Georgian houses and Tudor fragments of the Charterhouse itself. Barbican station, on the Circle, Hammersmith and City and Metropolitan lines, is a few minutes east, and Farringdon with the Elizabeth line is a short walk west.
