London Carpet Cleaning cleans across Islington, from Angel and Canonbury N1 through Highbury N5, Holloway N7 and Clerkenwell EC1V, from £36 a room, carpets dry within 6 to 7 hours. Islington runs from Angel and Clerkenwell up through Highbury to Archway and Finsbury Park. Georgian and Victorian terraces, many converted into flats, plus the odd warehouse loft.

Islington conversions are tall and narrow, so stairs and landings carry most of the wear; that is where a deep clean shows most. Every clean is guaranteed, most carpets are dry within 6 to 7 hours, and there is no call-out fee anywhere in Islington.
Tall narrow conversions and a lot of stairs
Islington is the densest borough in the country and you feel it in the housing. Almost no gardens, hardly any outdoor space, and street after street of tall narrow Georgian and Victorian terraces off Upper Street and around Canonbury and Highbury, most of them carved into flats. A single house might be three or four floors with a separate flat on each, which means a lot of stairs and a lot of carpeted landings. Holloway N7 and the Archway end of N19 add ex-council blocks and later conversions. Clerkenwell EC1V brings warehouse flats with rugs over hard floors. The traffic on those communal stairs is what wears the carpet.
Most people who book us here are flat owners and renters in the conversions, plus letting agents turning a place around between tenancies. The job we get asked about most is the staircase, because in a four-floor conversion the stairs take every footstep in the building and the front edge of each step goes dark first. We also clean a lot of single living rooms and one or two bedrooms rather than whole houses, simply because the flats are small. End-of-tenancy cleans are steady around Angel and Holloway, where renters need a dated receipt to put toward the deposit. Stair carpet is the bread and butter.
The honest part is stair-nosing wear. The front edge of every step, the nosing, takes the most punishment in a three or four floor conversion, and once the pile there is physically worn down a clean cannot un-wear it. We will lift the dirt and bring the colour back where there is pile left to revive, but on a staircase that is worn through to the backing we will tell you straight which steps will come up well and which are past it. Parking is permit-controlled on nearly every street, so we unload quickly off Upper Street or the nearest bay and carry the kit in.

Islington questions, answered
My stairs look worn on the front edge of each step. Can you fix that?
We can clean them and lift the colour back where pile is left, but worn nosing cannot be un-worn. The front edge of each step takes the most traffic in a tall conversion and wears down physically. We will tell you honestly which steps revive well and which are worn through to the backing.
Parking is impossible on my street. How do you manage the kit?
Nearly every Islington street is permit-controlled, so we pull up close, unload fast at the door, and carry the machine and hoses in. The unit runs off your power once we are inside. We are used to tight terraces off Upper Street and around Canonbury, so a difficult bay rarely holds up the job.
Which parts of Islington do you cover?
The whole borough, conversion flats and council blocks alike. Angel, Islington and Canonbury N1, Clerkenwell EC1V, Highbury N5, Holloway N7, and the Archway and Tufnell Park edge in N19, plus everything along Upper Street. No call-out fee, and the same room rate wherever your flat sits in the borough.
My flat has a wool runner on the stairs and a synthetic carpet in the lounge. Different methods?
Yes, and that is normal in these conversions. Wool runners get a low-moisture clean so they do not shrink, and they can take a little longer to dry. Synthetic lounge carpet takes hot-water extraction, which rinses deeper and lifts more soil. We carry the kit for each on the same visit, so the stairs and the rooms get done together.
I only need one room done, not the whole flat. Is that worth your while?
Completely. Most Islington flats are small, so single-room and one-or-two-bedroom bookings are a big part of what we do here. There is no call-out fee and the room rate starts at £36, so a single living room is a normal job for us, not too small to bother with.
