London Carpet Cleaning cleans carpets, sofas and rugs on Lombard Street and in the lanes off it, EC3V, from £36 a room and touch-dry in 1 to 2 hours. Fixed prices, no call-out fee, and a re-clean guarantee. We have worked the Square Mile since 2009, and we plan every visit here around the weekday bus-and-cycle restriction at the Bank end of the street.
What Lombard Street homes are like
Lombard Street was the money market of the Victorian world, and it still looks the part. The banks hung heraldic signs over the pavement, re-erected for Edward VII’s coronation in 1902, and Thomas Gresham’s golden grasshopper still swings above number 68. At the western end, where the street meets King William Street, stands St Mary Woolnoth, Nicholas Hawksmoor’s only City church, its crypt given over to Bank station when the Underground arrived.
Homes here are flats, nearly all of them. They sit on the upper floors of the lanes and courts that thread off the street: Clement’s Lane, Abchurch Lane, Nicholas Lane, Birchin Lane, Plough Court, where Alexander Pope was born in 1688, and Post Office Court, which remembers the 150 years the General Post Office spent on Lombard Street before moving to St Martin’s Le Grand in 1829. The Square Mile has fewer than ten thousand residents, and around these lanes most of them rent privately, so tenancies turn over quickly and interiors are kept to an agent’s standard. Bank station, with the Central, Northern and Waterloo & City lines plus the DLR, is two minutes west; Monument and its District and Circle services are a short walk down King William Street.
What we see across Lombard Street
Our Lombard Street diary splits in two. Before nine we are in meeting rooms and reception areas, lifting working-lunch spills out of office carpet tiles before the first calls of the day; commercial work here nearly always runs early or after hours, and we quote it that way. Later we are in the lane flats: candle wax drawn out of a linen settee after a dinner, a wool hallway rug collected for a full wash because a one-bedroom conversion has nowhere to dry it, communal stairs cleaned where the tread line has gone grey.
One honest note on those stairs. Where years of feet have crushed and abraded the pile down the centre, cleaning removes the soil and revives the colour, but it cannot re-erect fibre that has worn flat. The grey line fades a great deal; a faint shadow of wear can remain, and we say so on arrival rather than promise otherwise.

Carpet, upholstery and rug cleaning in Lombard Street
Most of what we do here is hot water extraction carpet cleaning, the deep clean landlords and office managers ask for by name. Add sofa and upholstery cleaning for the settees and desk chairs that take the daily wear, and rug cleaning with free collection for wool pieces that need a proper immersion wash rather than a surface clean. We cover the rest of the City of London on the same fixed prices.
Lombard Street questions, answered
Which parts of EC3V do you cover?
All of them. We clean on Lombard Street itself and in every lane and court off it, from Clement’s Lane and Abchurch Lane to George Yard and Post Office Court, plus the flats along King William Street. We are around Bank and Monument most weeks too.
How do you manage the weekday traffic restriction?
The western end of Lombard Street is limited to buses and cycles from 7am to 7pm on weekdays, so we book City slots for early mornings, evenings or weekends, or park legally off the restricted stretch and carry the kit in. We sort that before the day, and it never changes the price.
Do you do end of tenancy carpet cleans in EC3V?
Yes, most weeks. A move-out clean ahead of an agent inventory is the most common domestic booking we take around Lombard Street. We schedule between tenancies, work to checkout standard, and provide a receipt you can hand straight to the agent or landlord with the inventory paperwork.
How quickly do carpets dry in these flats?
Touch-dry in 1 to 2 hours for carpet; sofas take a few hours longer. Flats above offices hold their heat, which speeds drying, though a lane-facing room with little direct light can lag behind, so we set an air mover going in the slowest room before we leave.
Every clean is backed by our re-clean guarantee: if a mark resurfaces or a checkout is queried, we return and do it again at no charge. Our technicians are fully insured and DBS-checked, and we have been cleaning London since 2009.
