Lombard Street was the money market of the Victorian world, and it still looks the part. Our Lombard Street diary splits in two. Before nine we are in meeting rooms and reception areas, lifting working-lunch spills out of office carpet tiles before the first calls of the day; commercial work here nearly always runs early or after hours, and we quote it that way.
