We clean mattresses to lift the dust, sweat and allergens that build up where you sleep. The mattress is sanitised and takes about 24 hours to dry. Fully insured, fixed prices, every London borough.
How our mattress cleaning works
You spend a third of your life on your mattress, and it shows. Skin cells, sweat and body oils soak into the surface over months, and that layer feeds what you cannot see. We start by checking the fabric and any stains, then we say what we can realistically improve. The clean has four stages.
- Vacuum. A strong HEPA vacuum pulls the loose dust, dead skin and grit out of the top of the surface.
- Pre-treat. We work a gentle, low-moisture solution into stains and high-use areas to loosen what the vacuum left.
- Clean and sanitise. We lift the loosened soil, then sanitise the surface to knock back bacteria and the allergen load in it.
- Dry in about 24 hours. The mattress takes about 24 hours to dry, so plan a night in the spare room or on the sofa.
That drying step is why we work this way. A mattress core cannot be soaked and wrung out like a cloth. Over-wet it and the moisture sits deep in the foam or springs, which is how mildew starts inside where you will not see it until it smells.
What mattress cleaning costs in London
- Mattress cleaning from £35, priced by size (single, double, king or super-king).
That is the price. There is no call-out fee and the figure we quote is fixed, so a larger bed costs a little more and nothing surprises you on the day. Get a free quote and tell us the size and any stains worrying you.
Dust mites, allergens and what a clean actually does
Dust mites are the reason a mattress matters for your health as well as your comfort. They are microscopic, and they feed on the dead skin cells we all shed in bed. Their droppings are the real problem: that waste is a common trigger for asthma, eczema and allergic rhinitis. A proper clean removes a large part of that allergen load, and for allergy sufferers it can help.
A few real terms, in plain words:
- Dust mite
- A microscopic creature that lives in bedding and feeds on shed skin cells. Its waste is a leading household allergen.
- Allergen load
- The total amount of allergy-triggering material, such as mite droppings and dust, held in the surface. Cleaning lowers it; daily use builds it back.
- Low-moisture
- A method that uses minimal water so the item dries fast. We use it because a mattress core cannot be soaked and then dried out properly.
- Sanitise
- To treat a surface so the bacteria and germs on it are reduced. It lowers the count; it does not make a mattress permanently sterile.
Memory foam needs a careful hand. It is dense, it holds water far longer than a sprung mattress, and a heavy soaking can ruin one. We keep it at the driest end of our method and give it room to air.
What cleaning a mattress will not do
Here is the part we want to be plain about. Cleaning reduces the allergen and stain load, but it does not sterilise a mattress forever. Mites feed on the skin you shed every night, so the population returns over time. Deep old biological stains are the other limit. Long-dried urine or blood that has set into the fibres may lighten rather than vanish, because the staining has bonded with the fabric. We will tell you honestly what we expect to shift before we start, never after.
Getting ready, and how often to clean
Preparation is easy. Strip the bed so we can reach the whole surface, and give us access to both sides if you would like it turned. For most homes, once a year keeps a mattress fresh; if someone has asthma or a dust allergy, every six months suits better. It takes about 24 hours to dry, so keep children and pets off the bed until the next day.
Areas we cover and related services
We clean mattresses across all 33 London boroughs and the wider Greater London area; the full list is on our coverage map. Many customers book a mattress alongside a wider freshen-up, so it pairs with our sofa and upholstery cleaning or a full carpet clean. Our price list shows everything we charge.
Mattress cleaning questions, answered
How long does a mattress take to dry?
It takes about 24 hours to dry, a little less in a warm, ventilated room. Memory foam holds water longer, so we keep it especially dry and may suggest leaving the bedding off for a while to air.
Can you remove old urine or blood stains?
Often we can lighten them, and fresh accidents respond far better than old ones. Long-dried urine or blood that has set into the fibres may lighten rather than disappear. We look first and give you a straight answer before we begin.
Is the cleaning safe for children and asthma sufferers?
Yes. The whole point of the clean is to lower the allergen load that bothers sensitive sleepers, and we choose our products with children, pets and asthma in mind. The mattress takes about 24 hours to dry, so do not sleep on it the same night. A washable protector keeps the benefit going.
How much does it cost and do you charge a call-out fee?
Mattress cleaning starts from £35 and is priced by size, so a single costs less than a super-king. There is no call-out fee and the price is fixed. Tell us the size and any problem stains for a clear figure before we visit.
