What New Barnet homes are like
New Barnet exists because of its station. When the Great Northern Railway arrived in 1850, the stop for Barnet was put a mile from the old town on the hill, and a new suburb of late Victorian villas and terraces grew up around the platforms, pushed along by E. East Barnet Road is the high street, trains run from the station to Moorgate via Finsbury Park, and Monken Hadley Common closes the suburb off along its northern edge.
