London Carpet Cleaning cleans carpets, sofas and rugs across North Woolwich, E16, from £36 a room and touch-dry in 1 to 2 hours. Fixed prices, no call-out fee, and a re-clean guarantee. We have worked these streets since 2009, from the Pier Road flats down to the riverside terraces by the ferry.
What North Woolwich homes are like
North Woolwich sits on a thin strip of riverside land hemmed between the King George V Dock and the Thames, which makes it one of the most cut-off corners of Newham. The way out is the King George V DLR, opened in 2005 at the top of Pier Road, the Woolwich Ferry, or the foot tunnel a short walk east. The housing splits two ways. There are early council terraces around the Albert Road and Woodman Street end, some of it dating to Woolwich Borough’s first council housing from the start of the 1900s, and there are the new riverside flats going up along Pier Road, where Populo’s scheme alone added several hundred homes. In between sit the older ex-council blocks. A round here can mean a 1920s terrace in the morning and a fifth-floor new-build above the river in the afternoon.
What we see across North Woolwich
The damp comes up a lot. Homes a stone’s throw from the Thames, like the ones along Pier Road, hold moisture, and carpets there go flat and dingy faster than they would inland. We get a fair bit of pet work too, the runner with an old cat accident on it, the dog’s grubby sofa arms, and plenty of spills, red wine and fizzy drinks soaked into front-room carpets. The honest limit is the old pet stain. If urine has soaked through to the backing and underlay, a top clean lifts the smell and most of the mark, but a faint shadow can stay, and we will tell you that before we start rather than after. The other thing worth flagging is drying. In a ground-floor flat by the water it can take longer than the usual one to two hours, especially on a still day, so we plan the visit to give the pile time before the room is back in use.

Carpet, upholstery and rug cleaning in North Woolwich
For carpets and stairs we use hot-water extraction, also called steam carpet cleaning, which rinses the dirt out of the pile rather than leaving it soaked. Settees, mattresses and armchairs come under our upholstery cleaning, and a loose runner or rug from the hall can go out for rug cleaning with free collection and return if it suits you better than cleaning it in place. We cover the rest of Newham too, which you can read about on our Newham carpet cleaning page, along with nearby Custom House just up the line.
North Woolwich questions, answered
Which North Woolwich streets and postcodes do you cover?
All of North Woolwich in E16. That takes in Pier Road and Albert Road, the terraces around Woodman Street and Storey Street, Fernhill Street and Henley Road, and the newer riverside blocks near the ferry. If you are over the foot tunnel or up towards the Royal Docks, just give us the postcode and we will confirm.
Can you park near the older terraces and the Pier Road flats?
Usually yes. The older terraces are on-street and parking is rarely a problem, and the new Pier Road developments have their own parking and loading. Some streets near the Royal Docks fall in a controlled zone, so if yours has permit bays, let us know the door number and we will sort the van out when we arrive.
Do you get the new-build carpets and the old council ones?
Both. The pale carpets in the Pier Road and ferry-side flats mark easily and we treat them gently so they do not over-wet. The older council-house wool and synthetic carpets take a firmer clean. We match the method and the moisture to the carpet in front of us, not a one-size setting.
How long will carpets take to dry by the river?
Most carpets are touch-dry in one to two hours. Close to the Thames, in a ground-floor flat or on a damp still day, give it a little longer. We leave the pile barely moist, not wet, and a window open or the heating on for an hour finishes it off. Royal Victoria Gardens at the end of Pier Road brings in mud in winter, which we are happy to deal with.
Every job is backed by our re-clean guarantee: if a cleaned area is not right, we come back and put it right at no charge. We are fully insured and DBS-checked, and we have cleaned carpets, sofas and rugs across Newham since 2009.
