This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it. It covers this website and our carpet and upholstery cleaning service.
Last updated: 4 October 2026.
Who we are
The London Carpet Cleaning Company (“we”, “us”) provides carpet, upholstery and rug cleaning across London, and is the data controller for the data described here. You can reach us at [email protected] or 020 8077 8090.
What we collect
When you ask for a quote or get in touch, we collect the details you give us: your name, phone number, email address, postcode, the service you need and any notes you add. The website also records basic technical data such as your IP address and browser, through server logs and essential cookies. If you accept optional cookies, Google Analytics also records how you use the site: the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser type, and your approximate location. If you do not, it receives only limited signals that cannot identify you. See our cookie policy.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To prepare your quote, reply to your enquiry and carry out work you book. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before a contract, and performing that contract.
- To keep records of work and payments. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running the business, and legal obligations such as tax.
- To contact you about a job you have booked. Lawful basis: legitimate interest.
- To measure and improve how the website works, using Google Analytics. Lawful basis: your consent for analytics cookies, and our legitimate interest in understanding overall site use for the limited signals sent without cookies.
We do not send marketing without your consent, and we never sell your data.
Who we share it with
We share data only where it is needed to run the service: our website host and email provider store data on our behalf, and we may share details with a payment provider or, where the law requires, with the authorities. Google provides our website analytics as our processor; it may handle the data in the United States, under the UK-US data bridge. Any provider acts under a data-processing agreement.
How long we keep it
We keep customer records for six years, which UK tax and accounting rules require, and delete unconverted enquiries sooner. Website analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. After that we securely delete them.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or provide it in a portable form. To do any of these, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would like the chance to put things right first.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your data, including secure hosting and limited access. No website is ever completely secure, but we take it seriously.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the current version.
