We have cleaned London carpets since 2009. Our main method is hot-water extraction, often called steam cleaning. We pre-treat, rinse the pile deep and pull the dirty water back out, so your carpet is dry within 6 to 7 hours, under our re-clean guarantee.
How our steam carpet cleaning works
The word “steam” is a bit of a nickname. We are not blasting raw steam at the fibres. We heat clean water, push it through the pile under pressure with a cleaning solution, then vacuum it straight back out with the loosened soil. Most carpet makers recommend the method.
Every job follows the same order. We inspect the carpet first and note any stains or worn patches. Then we pre-treat the traffic lanes and spots, run the hot rinse once the solution has broken down the grime, and groom the pile so it dries evenly.
Depth is the point. Foot traffic does not leave grit on the surface. It drives sand and dust down to the base of the pile, where it grinds against the fibres and wears the carpet out. Hot-water extraction flushes the pile from the base upward and pulls that abrasive soil out.
What steam carpet cleaning costs in London
Our prices are fixed, so you know the figure before we arrive.
- Per bedroom from £36
- Living room from £43
- Through-lounge from £61
- Stairs, one flight, from £41
There is no call-out fee. The final price depends on room size and the state of the carpet, which is why we confirm it first. Get a free quote and we will give you a clear number with nothing hidden behind it.
Matching the method to your carpet fibre
The job we get called out to fix most often is over-wetting from a hired machine. Most rentals put a lot of water down with weak suction, so the carpet stays soaked for days. Slow drying brings a musty smell, and the water can draw old dyes up and leave brown tide marks.
The fix is matching the water level to the fibre, which we judge on the day.
- Wool and viscose are kept low-moisture, because both can shrink, brown or distort if you soak them.
- Synthetic fibres such as polypropylene and nylon take a deeper, hotter rinse, so this is where full extraction does its best work.
- Sisal and seagrass are plant fibres that hate water, so they get barely any moisture.
Stains are different problems. Red wine, coffee and mud each release differently, and a pet accident carries an odour as well as a mark. We identify each one and pre-treat it before the main clean, and we tell you up front about the ones that may not lift.
- Hot-water extraction
- The full method, often called steam cleaning, where hot water and solution are injected under pressure and vacuumed back out with the dirt.
- Pre-treatment
- The pre-spray we apply to traffic lanes and spots before cleaning, which breaks down grease and soil so the rinse works better.
- Wicking
- When a stain that sat deep in the carpet rises back up as it dries and reappears on the surface. We extract thoroughly to limit it.
- Browning
- Brown tide marks caused by too much water drawing dyes or backing colour up during slow drying, the classic over-wetting fault.
What a clean will not fix
We would rather be straight with you than oversell. Some old, set-in stains have been in the fibre so long that a thorough clean lightens them rather than removing them fully. Permanent damage is a separate thing. Bleach marks, burns, sun-fade and dye transfer from a rug are damage to the fibre, and no clean reverses that. We tell you before we start, not after.
Getting ready and aftercare
Lift small items off the carpet if you can, and we will shift the heavier furniture where it is safe. An open window or gentle heating helps it dry. At the end of a tenancy we provide a dated receipt for your carpet clean, which is the document most inventory clerks ask to see.
Areas we cover and related services
We clean across all 33 London boroughs, with the full list on our areas we cover page. A sofa in the same room can be freshened with our upholstery cleaning, and a loose rug can be done on the same visit with our rug cleaning. North London customers can read more on our Islington page.
Steam carpet cleaning questions, answered
How long does a carpet take to dry after steam cleaning?
The machine extracts about 95% of the moisture, and the rest dries off within 6 to 7 hours, depending on how well the room is ventilated. Hired machines leave carpets wet for days because their suction is too weak.
Is steam carpet cleaning safe for children and pets?
Yes. We choose our solutions with families and animals in mind, and we rinse the pile thoroughly so little residue is left behind. The carpet is dry within 6 to 7 hours, so a morning clean leaves the room ready by the evening.
Can you guarantee you will remove every stain?
We pre-treat every stain and lift the vast majority. We cannot promise to remove old set-in marks or permanent damage such as bleach, burns or sun-fade, because that is damage to the fibre. We tell you honestly what we expect to shift before we start.
How often should carpets be cleaned?
Once a year suits most homes, and a clean keeps grit out of the base of the pile where it wears the fibre. Busy hallways, homes with pets and families with young children often benefit from cleaning every six to nine months.
End of tenancy carpet cleaning
Moving out usually means the carpets have to pass a check-out inventory, and a professional clean is often written into the tenancy agreement. We clean to that standard: hot-water extraction through every room, the stairs and the landing, with a receipt for the landlord or agent. The carpet is dry within 6 to 7 hours, so a morning clean is ready for the inventory check by the evening. Tenants, landlords and letting agents book this most in the last week of the month, so give us a few days’ notice where you can.
Commercial and office carpet cleaning
We clean carpets for offices, shops and communal areas as well as homes. Most commercial work runs in the evening or at the weekend so the floor is back in use before staff arrive, and we clean carpet tiles as readily as fitted broadloom. See our commercial and office carpet cleaning page for how we schedule and price larger sites.
Every clean is backed by our re-clean guarantee, so if a spot comes back, so do we, at no charge. We are fully insured, our cleaners are DBS-checked, and we have cleaned London carpets since 2009. Call 020 8077 8090, 8am to 8pm.
