What Underhill homes are like
Underhill is the dip in the Dollis valley below Chipping Barnet, which is where the name comes from: under the hill. The housing is mostly interwar. When the railway was pushed through in the early 1930s the Grasvenor estate was laid out beside the line, and roads like Grasvenor Avenue and the streets off Mays Lane went up as terraces and bay-fronted semis around the same time. The other one is the Ark Pioneer Academy on Barnet Lane, built on the site of Underhill Stadium, which was Barnet FC’s home from 1907 until 2013 before the demolition crews came in.
