Carpet Cleaning in Warlingham, CR6

The right method for every fibre, with no call-out fee.

From £36 a room · no call-out feeor call 020 8077 8090

A triangular, tree-lined green with a war memorial at its centre anchors Warlingham, CR6, and Limpsfield Road runs straight through it. London Carpet Cleaning has worked here since 2009, from the period cottages around The Green to the 1930s semis on Westhall Road. The short answer on price is from £36 a room, with carpets dry within 6 to 7 hours.

Around the green and along the B269

Warlingham sits about 14 miles south of central London on the scarp slope of the North Downs, and parts of the village reach 200 metres above sea level, high enough to keep snow on the ground when Croydon below has none. The village is built around its green, and Limpsfield Road, the B269, is the main spine, running south from Sanderstead through Hamsey Green and across The Green towards Limpsfield. The 2011 census counted just over 8,000 people in the parish.

The housing is a real mix. Around The Green and the older lanes there are period cottages, while Limpsfield Road and roads such as Westhall Road and Hillbury Road are lined with solid 1930s and Edwardian semis, many extended over the years. Warlingham Village Primary School is on Farleigh Road, and the village has its own secondary, Warlingham School.

The newest homes are at Greatpark, on the edge of the village towards Chelsham. Warlingham Park Hospital opened there in 1903 as the Croydon Mental Hospital and took the Warlingham name in the 1930s; after it closed, everything except its water tower came down and the private estate went up in the early 2000s. The tower, a brick campanile with clock faces on three sides, has been listed Grade II since 1994, and the houses and flats around it have fitted carpets throughout.

The numbers behind Warlingham’s houses

Homes in the Warlingham East & Tatsfield census area (Tandridge 012)
Homes that areShare
Houses of any kind81.4%
Terraced houses12.0%
Flats in purpose-built blocks15.8%
Two bedrooms24.8%
Rented privately10.1%
Built before 191915.4%

The census splits Warlingham in two, and the green falls in the eastern half, counted with the villages to the east. Across that area 81.4% of homes are houses, so nearly every job comes with a staircase. Terraces are a minority at 12.0%, among them older cottage rows near The Green, and purpose-built flats make up 15.8%, Greatpark’s among them. A two-bed flat at Greatpark, both bedrooms and the living room, costs £115 to clean.

Homes built before 1919 account for 15.4%, and those are where the wool is: period cottages, often with narrow stairs, where we carry the hose in by hand. A quarter of homes (24.8%) have two bedrooms, which covers most of the cottages and flats. Private renting is low at 10.1%, so most bookings are owners freshening up for a family occasion or before a sale.

Drives, the green car park and new yellow lines

Most Warlingham homes have a drive and often a garage, so we usually park on the property and run the hoses straight from the van. Warlingham has no residents’ permit zone, and on-street parking is normally fine on the side roads. For the shops and flats around the green, Tandridge’s car park at Warlingham Green, on Limpsfield Road, is free for up to three hours.

A few streets have new lines. Surrey’s 2024 parking review, decided in 2025, approved double yellow lines on the bend of Chapel Road and at its junction with Warren Park, on the bend of Eden Way, where a new development had brought more cars, and on the inside of the bends in Verdayne Gardens. If you live on one of those, tell us and we plan where the van goes before the day.

On the day itself, clear the hall of shoes and bags and lift anything stored on the bedroom floors. Avoid booking the start for the school run on Farleigh Road if you can; we get to the door faster after nine.

Steam cleaning, sofas and rugs in CR6

Most bookings here are hot-water carpet cleaning for lounges, stairs and bedrooms, but we do plenty of sofa and upholstery cleaning too, including the cream corner settees and fabric suites that show marks from grandchildren and pets. Loose rugs and hall runners get proper rug cleaning where they lie, on the same visit as the carpets. Warlingham is just over the Greater London boundary, so the London team covers it as part of the same patch as the rest of Croydon, and we reach Hamsey Green just to the north and Chelsham and Farleigh on the same rounds.

In the period and 1930s homes near The Green and Glebe Road, the carpet is often wool or a wool blend. It cleans up well but needs a gentler hand and a low-moisture method so it does not over-wet. Stairs and landings take the worst of the wear, and with so much Green Belt and so many dogs, mud and paw prints by the front door and on hall runners are a steady part of the week. On older wool, a long-set stain that has reached the backing, such as an aged red wine ring or a bleach mark, sometimes only lightens, and we tell you that on the doorstep.

Questions we hear in Warlingham

Which Warlingham postcodes and roads do you cover?

All of the CR6 part of Warlingham, including The Green, Limpsfield Road, Westhall Road, Hillbury Road, Glebe Road, Leas Road and Farleigh Road, plus the Greatpark estate. We also work the wider CR6 area around Hamsey Green and over towards Chelsham, so neighbouring streets are no problem on the same visit.

Where does the van go when you arrive?

Almost every Warlingham home has a driveway, so we park on it and run the hoses straight from the van, which keeps the job tidy. There is no residents’ parking zone here of the inner-London kind, so on-street is usually fine too, and the free car park at Warlingham Green serves the shops and flats round the green.

Do you handle the wool carpets common in the older village homes?

Yes. Wool and wool-blend carpets in the period cottages and 1930s semis clean up well, but we drop the moisture and the heat a little and groom the pile as we go, so the carpet dries evenly and the natural fibres are not stressed. It is the right method for these older Warlingham floors.

How long do carpets take to dry in a Warlingham home near The Green?

Most carpets are dry within 6 to 7 hours, since we extract the bulk of the water as we clean. Warlingham sits high on the Downs, so on a damp winter day or with thick wool, allow a little longer while we set up air movers and open a window. Customers near The Green with a morning clean usually have the room back in use that evening.

Will the new yellow lines on Chapel Road and Eden Way stop you parking?

No. Surrey’s lines only cover the bends and the junction with Warren Park, to keep sight lines clear, and the rest of each road is unchanged. Most homes there have a drive anyway. If yours does not, we park on the nearest straight stretch without lines and run the hose from there, and you need not arrange anything.

It snows up here when Croydon has none. Do you still come in winter?

Yes, unless the hill roads are unsafe, in which case we ring you first and move the date. Winter is a good time to clean, since the heating is on and carpets dry fast indoors. We lay protective runners from the door so wet boots and grit from the drive stay off the clean pile.

Our re-clean guarantee applies to every Warlingham job: if a spot lifts back after we leave, we come back and put it right. We are fully insured and DBS-checked, and the same careful team, shoe covers on, has cleaned across Warlingham and the rest of CR6 since 2009.

Lounge and dining room done before my wife's birthday do. A red wine splash on the dining room carpet from last time and general winter grime both gone. Careful chap, shoe covers on, and it dried by the evening. No notes at all.

Our cream corner settee had picked up marks from the grandchildren over half term, including felt tip on two cushions. All gone and the whole thing looks fresher. Pleasant, tidy and just as quoted.

Stairs were matted and grey down the centre after years of use. Brushed up and cleaned beautifully, they look freshly fitted and the landing too. He rang ahead and was in and out without any fuss. Really pleased.

Kitchen and utility floor tiles cleaned and sealed, the grout had gone almost black and is back to a proper colour. Big improvement and a tidy job. Polite and explained everything as he went.

Bedrooms came up well overall and a juice spill on the landing lifted out. He did seem a little rushed towards the end and missed a small patch behind the door that I spotted later, but the bulk of it was lovely and fairly priced.
