What West London homes are like
West London is defined end to end by two things, the airport and the period flat. At the Heathrow end, around Hillingdon and the western half of Hounslow, homes sit under the flight path where fine airborne grit settles on light carpets and dulls them faster than further in. The smart inner end is a different world. Kensington and Chelsea, Chiswick on the Hounslow side, and Hammersmith and Fulham are full of tall period flats with stripped floors, wool carpet on the bedroom level, and good wool, silk and viscose rugs laid over the boards.

Are my silk and viscose rugs safe with you?
They are. Viscose “art silk” rugs are the most water-sensitive thing we handle, so we keep them low-moisture and clean them off the floor by hand, never soaked, which avoids the yellowing and stiffening that too much water causes. Wool and real silk we test and treat to match the piece.
