White City is really two housing worlds sitting side by side. The bulk of it is the White City Estate, the large London County Council scheme laid out between 1938 and 1953 on the old exhibition grounds, with parallel brick blocks set in grass and mature plane trees. The roads carry the empire names the exhibition left behind: South Africa Road, India Way, Commonwealth Avenue, Canada Way and Australia Road. In the older blocks it is traffic-lane greying down a hall, the odd milky spill, and end-of-tenancy cleans where a deposit is riding on the result. Is parking a problem for the van on the estate?
It is a controlled zone, 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and it gets tight in the evenings and on QPR match days near Loftus Road. It rarely holds us up. We park close, run the hose in from the van, and if a bay is hard to reach we sort access with you when we confirm the slot, so plan around a home fixture if you can.

How long will the carpet take to dry?
